Police took a man into custody Wednesday evening after he allegedly climbed onto the grounds of Chris Brown’s Los Angeles-area home and tried to start a fire near the property. The arrest marks the second time in roughly two weeks that authorities have been called to the singer’s gated estate in Tarzana.
Officers arrived at the residence in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood shortly before 7 p.m. local time, responding to reports of a suspicious person attempting to get past the front gate. According to TMZ, which first reported the story, the man had reportedly been seen lingering near the entrance before scaling a fence and making his way onto the grounds.
Security personnel at the home had apparently dealt with the same individual earlier in the evening, asking him to leave before he came back. Once he made it past the perimeter, staff stopped him and held him there until officers showed up. NBC 4 Los Angeles reported that Brown himself was not at the property when everything unfolded.
No one was injured during the confrontation. Police booked the suspect on a trespassing charge and filed a formal report, with the case now headed to prosecutors who will decide whether additional charges are warranted. Authorities have not publicly released the man’s name or said anything about a possible motive, though sources told reporters he was familiar to people connected to the residence and had reportedly caused problems before.
This is not the first time Brown’s Tarzana home has drawn police attention this month. On May 2, a security guard working at the property allegedly fired a CO2-style weapon at a woman following an argument outside the gates. The dispute reportedly started after the woman struck the guard’s foot with her vehicle. Brown was at the residence during that encounter but was not directly involved, and the guard was later let go over the incident.
The repeated calls to the address point to ongoing security challenges that have followed Brown for some time, with various confrontations and trespassing attempts surfacing at his properties over the years.
The latest incident comes as Brown has been pushing his career forward on the music side. His newest album is tracking for a top-five debut on the Billboard 200, keeping up the commercial run that has defined much of his catalog. Critical reception has been split, however, with some reviewers calling out its ambition and others panning it outright. Pitchfork’s 1.3 score generated particular buzz online.
The Grammy-winning singer behind tracks like “Forever,” “No Guidance,” and “Under the Influence” is also gearing up for a major summer run. He’s set to hit the road with Usher on the “R&B Tour,” with two stops booked in Detroit on July 2 and 3. His last show in the city came in August 2025 during the “Breezy Bowl XX” tour.
Even with the chart momentum and a packed touring schedule ahead, the situations playing out at his home keep pulling focus toward his personal life rather than the music itself.
