Year in Review: Mexican restaurants dominated Dining Out feature in 2019

The duck bunuelos at Glenview’s Mercado Cocina and Cantina features dumplings filled with duck meat over an Oaxacan mole negro and topped with figs and queso fresco.

The crab enchiladas at Glencoe’s Guanajuato Contemporary Mexican & Tequila Bar come with three enchiladas filled with blue-crab meat and covered with mole Coloradito, topped with red cabbage, avocado, radishes, crema and queso fresco.
Northbrook’s Eataco offers elote with fire-roasted corn topped with Mexican crema, queso fresco and house seasonings.
The smoked pork taco at Salt Creek Tacos, owned by John des Rosiers of Lake Forest’s Inovasi and The Otherdoor, is prepared Veracruz style with olive, caper, tomato, sunflower seeds and jalapeno.
