In a week or so, the Village Board is going to vote on allowing boating on Lake Glenview. The proposal is, starting this Memorial Day, people can drop in a kayak, canoe or rowboat and paddle around looking at, well, reeds, I guess.

There are some objections. People worry about the environmental impact and disrupting bird migration.

I am all for protecting nature, but I have to ask. Is Lake Glenview nature?

Isn’t it essentially a fake lake? Just a big ditch they pour fish into once a year?
